Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa and Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani volleyed the lead six times on Sunday, but Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa came out on top for a 9-5 win on Sunday at Hans.
Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa scored on an RBI single by Matthew Murakami off Raymond Sugihara, scoring Brandon Tanaka.
Josh Arakaki had two extra-base hits for Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa. He singled in the first inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.
A bright spot for Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani in the defeat was Waylen Sing Chow, who allowed only one run while striking out six.
Sing Chow reached base four times in the game for Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani. He singled in the third and seventh innings and tripled in the ninth inning.
Micah Nakasone got the win for Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked five and surrendered seven hits.
Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa’s Lorin Nakagawa, Markus Miyashiro and Arakaki combined for seven hits and five RBIs with Nakagawa homering.
In the top of the first, Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani’s rally started when Sugihara doubled. Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani added more runs when Sugihara scored on an RBI single by Keanu Carmichael.
It didn’t take long for Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa to answer as it scored three runs of its own in the first. Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa scored on a bases loaded walk by Dean Okamura, a walk by Carson Tsuruda, and an RBI single by Arakaki.
Oahu AJA Baseball Ewa went up for the duration of the game after the third inning. Additional runs came from an RBI double by Brandon Tanaka.
After pushing across one run in the top of the ninth, Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani faced just a 9-5 deficit. An RBI single by Troy Vicari, Jr. set off Oahu AJA Baseball Mililani rally. But, Jarvis Nohara got Ty Matsumoto to ground out to end the game.
