Sunday’s Results, Updated Standings, Playoff Scenarios

What an exciting day of AJA Baseball today!

 

Mililani rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to defeat Kaneohe.  Pearl City scored 3 in the top of the 9th only to see McCully score 2 in the bottom of the 9th for a 5-4 walk off victory.  Manoa broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the 8th inning and beat Ewa 6-4.  Finally, Waipahu scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th inning to rally to a 3-2 win over Waialae.

 

Here are updated standings:

  2. McCully 11-2, 22 points
  3. Pearl City 9-5, 18 points
  4. Waialae 7-5, 14 points
  5. Manoa 7-9, 14 points
  6. Mililani 6-9, 12 points
  7. Ewa 5-10, 10 points
  8. Kaneohe 3-9, 6 points
  9. Sheridan 1-12, 2 points

 

With 10 games remaining on the schedule, there are still 3 playoff spots up for grabs with 5 teams that have a chance.  Following are playoff scenarios for those teams still in contention:

 

Ewa, 5-10, next game vs. Waipahu:

Must beat Waipahu on Tuesday, Mililani lose to Pearl City and Kaneohe to lose one game to clinch #6 seed.

 

Kaneohe, 3-9, next game vs. Sheridan:

Must win remaining 4 games on schedule plus Ewa and Mililani loss plus other scenarios.

 

Manoa, 7-9, regular season complete:

Clinches a playoff spot with an Ewa, Kaneohe or Mililani loss.

 

McCully, 11-2, next game vs. Waialae:

Clinched playoff spot.  Will clinch a first round bye with a win or Pearl City or Waialae loss.

 

Pearl City, 9-5, next game vs. Mililani:

Clinched playoff spot.  Will clinch a first round bye with wins in last 2 games, McCully loses its last 3 games and McCully gives up 14 or more runs to Waipahu in its last game.

 

Waialae, 7-5, next game vs. McCully:

Clinches a playoff spot with a win or Ewa, Kaneohe or Mililani loss.

 

Waipahu, 13-1, next game vs. Ewa:

Clinched first round bye in championship tournament.  Will clinch top seed with a win or McCully loss.
