2015-16 Opening Day

The 2015-16 AJA Baseball season opens on December 13, 2015 (Sunday) with AJA games on Hilo & Oahu.

The Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League starts its season with a triple header @ Wong’s Stadium in Hilo.

The Oahu AJA Baseball League begins play with 10am & 1pm double headers @ Ala Wai & Central Oahu Regional Park field #4 (CORP).  After a lengthy hiatus to repair the field lights and the field itself, the League returns to play at the Ala Wai.  Meanwhile, Hans L’Orange is now undergoing field repair and won’t be available until February 8, 2016.  McCully vs Sheridan will mark the return to the Ala Wai on Opening Day (10am December 13, 2015 Sunday).  League runner-up Pearl City will open the AJA season at CORP with a 10am game vs Ewa.  The 1pm Ala Wai game will feature Waialae vs Manoa while the 1pm game at CORP will feature defending champion Waipahu as it opens its title defense against the lone team to defeat them last year, Kaneohe.  The last remaining team, Mililani, draws a bye on Sunday but will open its season Monday night 7pm @CORP vs Pearl City.

Eight games will be played at Ala Wai & CORP this week.  League runner-up, Pearl City has two games this week against Ewa and Mililani meanwhile Manoa has two tough games to start the season with Waialae and McCully on the schedule this week.

A new format for the six team End of Season Championship Tournament will be played this year.  A single elimination playoff will feature the regular season’s 3rd place team vs the 6th place team and the 4th & 5th place teams playing each other.  The 2 winning teams will move on in the Championship Tournament.  The regular season’s 1st place team will play one of the 2 remaining winning teams (regular season’s lowest seed) from the playoff in a best 2 of 3 game Semi-Final series as will the regular season’s 2nd place team who will play the other remaining winning team.  The 2 winners move on to play each other in a best 2 of 3 League Championship Series to determine the League Champion.  The Championship Tournament is scheduled to begin February 28 and culminate with the League Champion being crowned on March 13.
