FINAL Regular Season Games Determine PLAYOFF Teams

The Oahu AJA Baseball League endured 24 rainout and field unavailable games with 10 being rescheduled, reducing their original 72 game regular season schedule to 58 games. It took the Regular Season’s final weekend of games to determine the 6 Playoff teams and the Regular Season Champion.

In the Sunday (March 1, 2026) 10am CORP 2 game, Mililani hosted Waialae with the winner possibly moving up to 1st place should Sheridan lose its final game against Kaneohe. Waialae edged out Mililani 4 to 3 in 10 innings and waited for the Sheridan vs Kaneohe game to find out if Waialae was 1st or 2nd and Mililani placing 3rd.

Before the final Sunday of games, 3 teams (Kaneohe, Waipahu & McCully) were all tied for the final two playoff spots (5th & 6th). Waipahu was hosting McCully at the Ala Wai 1pm game with the Winner In and the Loser most likely out. Kaneohe was to play Sheridan at CORP 2 game. Kaneohe Wins and they’re in the Playoffs. Lose and they’ll need Waipahu to Lose and win the Tiebreaker against Waipahu to make the Tournament.

As it turned out in the 1pm Ala Wai game, McCully took an early lead against Waipahu, increased their lead then hung on to win 9 to 5 as Waipahu had the tying run on deck. McCully finished with a .545 Points % to place 4th, ahead of 5th place Manoa’s .542 Points %.

At the same time at CORP 2, Sheridan beat Kaneohe 11 to 9 in an exciting come from behind fashion. With Kaneohe leading 7 to 6 after 7 innings, Sheridan’s Asher Ginoza homered in the top of the 8th to tie the score. Sheridan went on to score 2 more runs to stretch the lead to 9 to 7. Kaneohe’s Kris Kahanu hit a dramatic 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game. Sheridan proved resilient scoring 2 runs in the 9th inning then held off Kaneohe’s valiant comeback, stranding 2 runners on base to end the game. Sheridan’s win propelled them to 1st place ahead of 2nd place Waialae and 3rd place Mililani.

Kaneohe’s loss and Waipahu’s loss left both teams with a .462 Points %, tied for 6th place and needing Tiebreakers to determine which team would move on to the Playoffs as the 6th seed. Kaneohe and Waipahu tied again for the 1st Tiebreaker of Head-to-Head record as the teams split against each other. Kaneohe and Waipahu tied again at .375 Points % for the 2nd Tiebreaker of Points % Against Teams Above them in the Standings as Kaneohe finished with 3 Wins and 5 Losses while Waipahu finished with 2 Wins, 4 Losses and 2 Ties. Kaneohe finally bettered Waipahu on the 3rd tiebreaker of Average Runs Allowed Against Teams Above them in the Standings as Kaneohe allowed 6.13 Average Runs (49 runs in 8 games) while Waipahu allowed 6.75 Average Runs (54 runs in 8 games).

Good luck to all Playoff Teams (Sheridan, Waialae, Mililani, McCully, Manoa, Kaneohe) and Thank you to those teams (Waipahu, Pearl City, Ewa) ending their season.
