Under cloudy skies, Kaneohe defeated league leading Pearl City in a thrilling well pitched defensive game at Castle High School, dropping PC into 2nd place. After Pearl City tied the game in the top of the 8th inning, Kaneohe came back with 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the 8th on 3 timely hits, led by Kai Terayama, a walk and two costly Pearl City errors. Pearl City rallied in the 9th inning, loading the bases and scoring 2 runs but had the tying run thrown out at home plate on a fine defensive play by Kaneohe pitcher Royce Kuromoto on a squeeze play. Kuromoto earned the save in relief of winning pitcher Evan Kaneshiro by retiring the next batter as the final out of the game right before flash flood warnings were issued across the state.
