87th Annual Hawaii State AJA Baseball Tournament CHAMPIONSHIP GAME Maui (Daimyo) 9 – 5 Hawaii (Waiakea Pirates) 3/31/24 (Sun) 11:30am @Vidinha Stadium, Kauai

Maui (Daimyo) captured back-to-back Hawaii State AJA Baseball Championships by defeating Hawaii (Waiakea Pirates) 9 to 5 in the 87th Annual Hawaii State AJA Baseball Tournament Championship game on Sunday (March 31, 2024) at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue, Kauai.

Maui collected 12 hits led by Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Batting Champ Centerfielder Brett Komatsu who had 4 hits, scoring 2 runs with 1 rbi.  1st baseman Chazz Ishikawa, DH Kai Watanabe, Rightfielder Callen Beeson all chipped in with 2 hits each.  Catcher Jaylen Suda & Beeson each had 2 rbi. Starting pitcher Jay Texeria started his 2nd game of the tournament & was relieved by Jacob Chong, who earned the win.

Hawaii got 10 hits led by 3rd baseman/pitcher Brandyn Lee-Lehano with 3 hits & 2 rbi.  Centerfielder Ryan Torres-Torioka & 1st baseman Ryder Oshiro added 2 hits each.  Starting pitcher Kobie Kinzie pitched 6 innings, yielding 7 runs on 8 hits, striking out 6, walking 3.  Lee-Lehano relieved Kinzie in the 7th and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 1.
