Despite Strong Fight, Waipahu Can’t Top Pearl City
Despite a 5-run deficit in the sixth inning, Waipahu almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-9 to Pearl City on Thursday. Waipahu scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Revan Wong in the sixth, a sacrifice fly by Tiras Koons in the seventh, a single by Alika Kuraokain the eighth, and a single by Koons in the eighth.
Waylen Sing Chow was the winning pitcher for Pearl City . He went one inning, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Todd Takabukiand Tokunaga entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.Tokunaga recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Pearl City .
Cruz Hatanaka took the loss for Waipahu . He went three innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out one.
Cory Yuh started the game for Pearl City . He allowed seven hits and five runs over five and two-thirds innings. Ryne Miyamoto started the game for Waipahu . He allowed 11 hits and nine runs over five and a third innings, striking out four and walking one.
