First Round Oahu AJA Baseball League Championship Tournament results & Upcoming Schedule

Here are first round results from the Oahu AJA Baseball League Championship Tournament:

Manoa and Kaneohe advance to the best of 3 Super Round while Sheridan and McCully see their seasons come to an end.

 

On Sunday 2/28/16 @ Hans L’Orange 10am,

#5 Manoa defeated #4 Sheridan 5 to 2 behind the complete game performance of pitcher Austin Sloan who struck out 2 walking 2 & scattering 6 hits.  Sloan was aided by 3 Manoa double plays and several outstanding defensive backhand stops and throws up the middle from 2nd baseman Russell Doi.  In a 2 hour and 10 minute game, Manoa jumped ahead early, scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning on 5 hits, then held off repeated Sheridan rallies.  Manoa, in the playoffs for their 2nd consecutive year, advances to the best 2 of 3 Super Round series against regular season #1 seed Waipahu Wednesday (3/2/16) 7pm @ Hans L’Orange.  Sheridan back in the playoffs after a 2 year absence, saw their season come to an abrupt end after losing this sudden death elimination game.

#3 Kaneohe scored early and often to beat #6 McCully 9 to 3 behind the gutty 8 inning pitching performance of Kapono Chang while Seamus Yoneshige finished the game.  Kaneohe scored early (5 in the 1st inning) and often (9 in the first 5 innings) and held off McCully as Chang & Yoneshige scatttered 10 McCully hits and stranded 12 McCully baserunners while striking out 4, walking 4 and hitting 1.  Kaneohe, who made the playoffs for the 1st time in several years, advances to the best 2 of 3 Super Round series against regular season #2 seed Waialae at the Ala Wai on Wednesday (3/2/16) @ 7pm.  McCully’s season has ended after this sudden death elimination game.
