PC 10 – 9 McCully Thurs (3/5/15) @CORP CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

The Oahu AJA Baseball Championship Tournament continued in a battle of once beatens as Pearl City hung on to defeat McCully 10 to 9 Thursday (3/6/15) night at chilly CORP.  After falling behind by 2 runs from the 1st inning, Pearl City jumped out to a comfortable 10 to 3 lead led by Chris Goya’s 2 hits and 3 RBI and 2 hits each from Chad Takabuki and Derrick Fujioka.  Pearl City then watched as McCully fought back with 1 run in the 7th and batted around in the 8th inning as McCully’s 1st 5 batters got on base, scoring 5 runs but stranded the tying run on 3rd base and the go ahead run on 2nd base.  Pearl City pitcher Allen Komori came on in relief of starting pitcher Chris Loo in the 8th inning and allowed 3 runs to score before getting the final out with the bases loaded to stop McCully’s furious rally.  Pearl City closer Justin Pate pitched the 9th inning, earning the save by striking out the final 2 McCully hitters after allowing a walk to finish the game.  Harrison Kuroda drove in McCully’s first 4 runs.  Andy Uehara and Mason Suga had 3 hits each while Colby Ho & Kuroda chipped in with 2 hits each for McCully.
