2015-16 Season Opens

Kauai AJA Baseball Association

Kauai has six teams again and our first game is scheduled for December 20th at the Vidinha Stadium.  The six teams are Kapaa managed by Ikaika and Kainoa Pezario, Lihue led by Curtis Matsumura, Kalaheo to be managed by Jayson Koga, Hanapepe by Leroy and Dean Nonaka, Makaweli by Mel Nishihara and Russell Nakata, and Waimea by Garrett Agena.  A triple header will open our league play, then the games are split during the regular season between Hanapepe Stadium and Vidinha.

This past year we lost a long-time AJA player, coach and league official, Peter Ishibashi.  Peter served as our league as the umpire coordinator while coaching the Kalaheo Farmers.  He will be missed.

The League again elected Tom Shigemoto as president, Brian Yamase as first vice president, Russell Maeda as treasurer, Gerald Ako as its secretary, Art Brun as the umpire coordinator and Bruce Hiraoka, Curtis Matsumura and Kelly Robinson as auditors.

Kauai AJA Baseball continues to honor the tradition of a league played by our great-grandfathers, grandfathers and fathers & encourages and welcomes all fans and supporters to attend games.

Submitted by Tom Shigemoto, Kauai AJA Baseball Association President.
