Mililani defeated Manoa, 9 to 6 last night (2/4/15) @ drizzly CORP, behind the clutch pitching of veteran Kristen Nakasone & Dean Okamura. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Manoa rallied to score 3 runs, had runners on 2nd & 3rd base with the tying run on 2nd base with 1 out when Nakasone entered the game in relief of Okamura and retired the next two batters without allowing any runners to score. Nakasone shut down Manoa in the 7th & final inning as the game was called due to the 2 1/2 hour time limit.
In a crucial battle for a spot in the Oahu AJA Baseball Association’s Playoffs & Championship Tournament where only 6 out the 9 teams make the Playoffs, Mililani moved from 7th place to 5th with only 5 games remaining while dropping Manoa into 7th with only 4 games remaining. Although Manoa and Ewa appear tied with 8 points, Manoa drops to 7th with Ewa at 6th due to the 1st tie breaker (head-to-head).
