OAHU WINS 89th (2026) Annual Hawaii State AJA Baseball Association CHAMPIONSHIP Game Oahu (Sheridan Midas) 15 – 7 Maui (Happy Hour) April 5, 2026 (Sunday) @Maui’s Ichiro “Iron” Maehara Baseball Stadium

Led by the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player (MOP) and Most RBI (5) Award winner Drayson Ito, Oahu (Sheridan) defeated 3 time defending champion Maui (Happy Hour) 15 to 7 on Championship Sunday.

In Sunday’s Championship game, Seamus Yoneshige (Kaneohe) exorcised his 3 State Championship Tournament losing streak with a masterful performance to earn the Win, shutting down Maui to 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings and most importantly filling the strike zone, walking none, striking out 1.  Bronson Ichimura finished the game in relief.

Oahu took the early lead, scoring 3 in the 2nd inning, then kept the pressure on, adding 4 in the 4th inning, 2 in the 5th inning and 6 in the 6th inning to stretch the lead to 15 to 1 at that point as Yoneshige shut down the potent Maui offense.  Leadoff batter centerfielder Drayson Ito got on base in his 6 plate appearances and added 3 rbi and 2 hits.  Catcher Jared Yara added 3 rbi on a booming homer deep over the left field fence and third baseman Ryne Yamamoto also had 3 rbi.  Shortstop Sean Tanaka paired hits and scored 4 runs, left fielder Dylan Sugimoto also paired hits.  Right fielder Joey Maekawa contributed to the on base onslaught with 3 walks & 3 runs scored and first baseman Josh Inaba added 2 hit-by-pitch with 2 runs scored.

Maui was led by Micah Jio, Kaeo Lau Hee & David Rapanot with 2 hits apiece.
