PC 11 – 10 Waialae Sun (3/8/15) @Hans CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

In the Championship Tournament elimination game, Pearl City defeated Waialae 11-10 after Waialae rallied back from a 10-1 deficit to tie the game at 10 to 10.  Pearl City’s Kip Masuda drilled two home runs and drove in 6 runs to help build the huge Pearl City lead.  Waialae showed its heart by rallying back with a 6 run 5th inning, eventually tying the game at 10 to 10 in the bottom of the 8th inning against Pearl City pitcher Chase Masuda, who started the 8th inning in relief of Pearl City starting pitcher Daven Hermosura, who had battled & grinded through 7 innings.  Pearl City’s Chad Quillopo opened the top of the 9th inning by working a walk and scored the go ahead and eventual winning run on Chris Loo’s one out single against Waialae pitcher Josh Nakamura, who had shut out Pearl City in the previous 3 innings. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Waialae worked a baserunner to 2nd but left him stranded to end the game.

 

Pearl City advanced to play Waipahu immediately after in the 1pm Championship Game @Hans L’Orange Park.
