Pearl City defeated Ewa 12 to 6 behind the pitching of Chris Loo, Chase Masuda and Cory Yuh.
With the win, Pearl City remains in 4th place but just 1 point behind McCully for 3rd place and 2 points behind Waialae for 2nd place. Pearl City must win against Sheridan on Sunday combined with a McCully loss vs Manoa on Friday to tie Waialae for 2nd place. Pearl City would take the 2nd seed by winning the 1st tiebreaker (1-0-1 vs Waialae in head-to-head games) and earn the bye into the double elimination Oahu AJA Baseball Association Championship Tournament to determine Oahu’s representative to the State AJA Baseball Championship Tournament. .
With the loss, Ewa failed to clinch a spot in the playoffs and must now wait till Sunday’s game between Sheridan and Pearl City to see if they get into the playoffs. A Sheridan win and Sheridan ties Ewa for 6th place but makes the playoffs instead of Ewa by virtue of winning the 1st tiebreaker (2-0 vs Ewa in head-to-head games). Should Sheridan lose to Pearl City, Ewa will have sole possession of 6th place and become the final seed in the playoffs.
