One team advanced to the championship game, another staved off elimination, the next is forced to play an additional game to get to the championship game and finally one team is going home. Just another day in the playoffs.
Waipahu, behind a strong pitching performance by Shaun Kiriu, rallied with 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning to stun Pearl City and hold off elimination. In the second game, McCully scored early and often to top Waialae who got a 2-run home run from Mark Okano in the loss.
McCully advances to the championship game next Sunday, March 10, 10 a.m. at Hans L’Orange Field while Waialae and Waipahu will face off on WEdnesday for the right to meet McCully in the championship game.
Waialae will be the home team on Wednesday at Hans L’Orange, first pitch, 7 p.m.
Have a great week!
