Sunday AJA Playoff Results

Congratulations to Waipahu, back to back champions of the Oahu AJA Baseball League!

Earlier, Pearl City defeated Waialae 11-10 after Waialae rallied back from a 10-1 deficit.  Pearl City’s Kip Masuda drilled two home runs and drove in 6 to build the Pearl City lead but Waialae rallied with a 6 run 5th inning to help rally back.  In the 9th inning, Chad Quillopo scored the go ahead and eventual winning run on Chris Loo’s single.

In the championship game, Shaun Kiriu pitched into the 9th inning and Chevas Numata got the last two outs to clinch the championship for Waipahu.  Pearl City mounted a late comeback but it was too late as Waipahu won it’s second consecutive Oahu AJA Baseball League Championship.

Waipahu will represent Oahu at the 80th annual Hawaii State AJA Baseball League Championship Tournament at Iron Maehara Stadium on Maui.  The tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 4 and 5.

Congratulations on a great season and thank you all for participating.
